The unwitting expatriate blogger behind QuietDawnRidge

Hi, I'm Lorenzo

I’m a project manager, a parent, and an expat residing in Rome, Italy.

A few years back I moved here with my family, and what began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.

Origin Story

Moving to Italy wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expatriate moves, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.

The initial months were demanding — new procedures, new schedules, new expectations. Daily chores seemed more complex than expected.

The Adjustment Period

There was cultural adjustment, ambiguity, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began crafting something that felt steady.

Why I Built QuietDawnRidge

Most online content was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism material. What was lacking was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.

This site aims to close that gap—practical guidance rooted in real life in Italy.

What This Site Does (And Doesn’t)

This site IS:

  • Practical know-how from living in Italy
  • Centered on family life and daily realities
  • Updated whenever something truly changes

This site ISN'T:

  • Not a tourism authority resource
  • A paid-review platform
  • Just another travel blog

Looking Forward

Our stay in Italy goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we find.

If you have questions about family life in Rome or anywhere in Italy, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Best regards,

Lorenzo
